Hello Friend,

May is here. Already. Is anyone else feeling time zip by? The kids at our highschools have just entered Advanced Placement Exam weeks and our kids in college are heading into exams too. Summer is knocking.

You should have received your primary ballots as of now. If not, it's a good sign to check your registration status ASAP. I won't be on this ballot but I will absolutely be exercising my rights by voting. I hope you will too!

Community Spotlight

Happy to support the mission of The Buena Vista Audubon Society this weekend and scored a beautiful quilt made by the phenomenal hands of Diane Nygaard!!

Reflect. Rest. Restore. Recharge.

Diane's cozy AND gorgeous piece of work is just the inspiration we need right now. We are taking a brief bye week from the weekly meetings as we finalize our systems and ensure our self and community-care scaffolds are solid. June to November will be a sprint for me. I know the calendar will be packed with events and meetings, and with more events, and with talking to every voter we can in District 2. As soon as the primary is complete, before the dust even settles, we will be amplifying the promise of this campaign everywhere we can:

On COMMUNITY CARE ...“Belonging is a public safety strategy.”

On SMART GROWTH ... "Systems thinking isn’t optional - it’s survival.”

On AFFORDABILITY..."Oceanside must remain livable for the people who make it beautiful."

Our hope is that these ideas become conversation starters and invite dialogue about how we can grow an Oceanside that lifts us all without leaving anyone behind.

Same with this campaign. My earliest supporters and I had deep conversations about what it would look like to not just govern differently, but also campaign differently. I knew I couldn't put myself nor may family and those who love me through the sleepless nights and unhealthy habits that fueled the campaigns of old.

I will work damn hard, but I cannot sacrifice my health or the relationships with those I love in the process of amplifying a platform of community care. I refuse to ask anyone who volunteers for this campaign to make that kind of sacrifice, either. Each of you deserves to feel cared for and to thrive every step of the way towards our collective victory in November.

During our regular Tuesday night meeting time, I invite you to spend some quality time with a loved one, break bread with your friends, or curl up with the crafty project that is calling you. You are part of "Beloved Community" in the vein that Dr. King spoke about. If we can build it here in this campaign, we can build it in a city.

Then, as June approaches, let's start priming our jets for GO TIME!!! 🚀

I don't mean to spam - I'm just a regular human trying to stay connected to a growing community of awesome people I am meeting.
