Hello Friend,
Last week we had fewer campaign activites to allow me to spend some quality time with my kid. She was taking her first AP exam and wanted her mom around to help her get ready. I honestly felt humbled and over the moon that my fifteen year old had the emotional intelligence to ask for what she needed during what she knew was going to be a high stress week for her. "Community Care" is more than just a campaign pillar but speaks to how we show up for eachother when we are needed. As parents, we are the first leaders our kids will experience and our families are our first communities.
She feels like she did great on the test. All of her hard work surely paid off. And I am feeling renewed, grateful, and ready to tackle this week!

This kid has seen her mama at work since the beginning, even joining me at times! I still can't believe how fast the time goes....

On Monday May19th, the Planning Commission will be taking up he General Plan Update, Smart and Sustainable Corridors Specific Plan, Climate Action Plan, and Draft Final EIR (FEIR). I will be getting a briefing from planning staff this week.
As some of you may have already heard, when I first moved to Oceanside, the first things I did were 1) get my library card, and 2) review the city's general plan. I am just that kind of nerd π€, and proud of it!
These documents offer the overarching vision and guiding direction for the future of this city. I will be spending a lot of time this week doing my homework to make sure I am well prepared to give these documents the consideration they deserve. Stay tuned for a zoom meeting I'll be hosing prior to the Commission meeting to share what i've learned so far and hear your questions so I can take them to the dais. If you'd like to see the full documents, you can find them here: https://onwardoceanside.com/
